Easy hacks to reduce your environmental paw-print

Many of us are striving to make the planet a better place, but what can we do as dog-lovers to help protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future for us and our furry-friends?

For those looking to lead a more environmentally friendly pet-life, we’ve laid down four easy hacks to help ensure fellow canine lovers are not barking up the wrong tree when it comes to sustainability.

1) DIY dog toys

Playing with our dogs is one of the best ways to build a strong bond, but we know finding ways to keep them entertained can be hard. Dog toys are vital to ensuring they have fun and keeping them stimulated, but many of these are made from plastics! Why not try up-cycling old household items and trying your hand at some homemade toys? A knotted towel, old tennis ball toys or a hand-tied rope toy are the perfect sustainable alternative, allowing you to keep your dog entertained without harming the planet. Check out some DIY examples here.

2) Sustainable dog food

One of the simplest adjustments to lead a more sustainable dog-life is by switching to an environmentally friendly dog food... and this is where we can help! Our sustainable, premium dog food is great for your dog and even greater for the planet. We offer CO2-neutral, free range products in our world first material recyclable packaging, offering you an eco-alternative to traditional dog food to help you ensure your sustainability is top dog.

3) Eco-friendly dog waste bags

With many brands offering poop bags that biodegradable or are made from recycled materials or plant-based alternatives to plastic, substituting these for the traditional plastic bags can help to reduce the environmental impact of dog waste. We all know the damage that plastic is doing to the planet, and by removing these from our poop-bag collection we can ensure that’s one less bag that ends up in the ocean.

4) Composting dog waste

You know the drill when it comes to dog waste, but what if this waste could be used for something positive? Well, you're in luck. Composting dog waste is possible but it needs to be done correctly. How about making your own ‘home dog waste composter’ or ready-made ‘Wormery’ to turn your furry-friends waste into something positive!

So, whilst the old saying goes ‘you can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ - we’re here to change that. Making these easy but effective hacks will help super-charge your sustainability and help make the world a better place for you and your furry-friend!
